A native of Kingston Jamaica, Rhythm Child traveled to the United States at the age of 4 with his single mother. He is the oldest of 5 children and the only one that his Grand Father filed for, because at the time he needed to have surgery due to Cataract of his left eye and the United States would provide the best medical attention.
Growing up he often asked questions about his father and was told that his father was brutally murdered by a Jamaican Gang. This in essence was a lie and it was later revealed to Dameion that his father in fact faked his death. At the young age of 14 he made a selfish yet mature decision that Dance & Martial Arts would take the place of his father.
Rhythm Child has always been attracted to music and sounds of the streets and so he drowned himself in them. He battled on the streets of Brooklyn repeatedly. He was on a mission to become the very best! He never held back from taking dance to a deeper place and giving it a more meaningful purpose. He taught for many years for free, offering a outlet to peace for many rival gangs.Soon the streets began to respect him as a Dance Hall King, he began to challenge himself by learning various dance styles and bringing them all into the house of Dance Hall Music. This Dance Style is now known as Flexing or Flexin.
Even though it seemed like sunshine city….there were many dark issues in his home, such as child abuse, depression and neglect . His mother only knowing how to parent the way she was conditioned to…often lashed out at his siblings and himself. At age 17 Rhythm Child left home and became even more consumed with finding himself and his purpose.
At this same time Dameion was studying martial arts and was putting his body and mind to the test to excel and become enlightened. He quickly graduated through the ranks and became the head of his class. After putting 16.5 years, he achieved the rank of 5th Degree Black Belt under The World Martial Arts Association. He later decided to branch off on his own and founded The Blue Wave Tae Kwon Do Academy and the “Won Eul Sajag ”
Dameion has molded himself into a warrior….unlike the ordinary. One that isn’t afraid to cry, laugh or smile. He believes in a world that is far from traditional, however is built upon passion, love and support. He believes that change is good and that we all can become the change that we wish to see in the world and that it is up to us to prepare the generation after ours…..making sure that its a loving one.
Today Dameion has dedicated his life on being “ART IN MOTION” and helping others to become free positive thinking artist/individuals in society.
